Wroclaw
Wroclaw is a thriving business and cultural hub situated in southwest Poland. With a population of 632,996 in 2010, Wroclaw is Poland’s fourth largest city.
In the years following accession to the European Union in 2004, Wroclaw has become one of Eastern Europe’s emerging destinations of choice for those seeking to experience the city’s vibrant café culture and night-life scene. As a millennium-old city, Wroclaw also has a long tradition in trade and transportation, which influences sustainable development strategies pursued by the municipal government in co-operation with other European cities.
Referred to colloquially as ‘the Meeting Place’ of Poland, Wroclaw is a progressive European centre and venue for international economic and cultural events. In September 2011, Wroclaw hosted the 19th annual conference of the European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils, with the Polish government chairing the European Council.
