Plock
Płock is located on the Vistula river bank in central Poland, about 100 km from the capital Warsaw in the north-west direction. It is the third largest city of the Mazovia with 130 thousand inhabitants. It is one of the oldest cities in Poland, being the historical capital of Mazovia and the capital of Poland from 1079 to 1102.
Plock grew rapidly in the 1960s and 1970s resulting in the construction of Poland’s largest oil refinery and petrochemical plants. Yet even though the oil industry, especially the major European oil refiner and petrol retailer PKN Orlen, still plays the primary role in Plock’s city economy, their influence and importance is diminishing.

Diversification of Economy of Plock with a Focus on Entrepreneurship Development
This Diversification of Economy of Plock with a Focus on Entrepreneurship Development is designed to provide viable solutions to an overreliance on the ORLEN oil company as the sole basis of the city’s economy. By promoting development of other branches of industry and of micro and small enterprises, it aims to decrease the labour markets dependence on the oil sector.
The Grant Fund for Plock
This cross-sector project provides funds for student groups, community organisations, and NGOs to realise innovative projects that improve the quality of life in Plock. Since Plock’s engagement, the City of Plock has harnessed and developed activities that promoted good governance frameworks, specifically around the role of the public-private partnerships and the role of the private sector in urban and sustainable development.
