Estado do Paranà
Paraná is one of the southern states of Brazil. It is bordered by three other Brazilian states and two countries: São Paulo state on the north, Santa Catarina state on its south and Mato Grosso do Sul on the west; the republic of Paraguay with the Paraná River are on the west and Argentina is on the south. The Atlantic Ocean is its eastern boundary.
Paranà is rich in natural attractions. The National Park of Iguaçu on the Argentinian border is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Iguazu Falls (Cataratas do Iguaçu) attracts about 700 thousand tourists per year. The world’s largest dam, Hidroelétrica de Itaipu lies about 40 km (25 mi) from there, at the border with Paraguay. The State Park of Vila Velha near the city of Ponta Grossa with great rocky formations sculpted by the erosion of rain and wind and historical Paranaguá also attract many tourists/
The capital, Curitiba has a relatively high quality of life and is reknown for its approach to sustainable development, In 2010 Curitiba was awarded the Globe Sustainable City Award.

Aliança Nosso Paraná Sustentável (Our Sustainable Paraná Alliance) is an ambitious and leading new model for a coordinated cross-sectoral statewide approach to sustainability. The Alliance is being built from a solid base of collective assets. Leaders from the private sector, government and civil society in the Brasilian State of Paraná have committed to work on a regional and city-wide level to build a state which is sustainable across all domains - ecological, economic, political and cultural.
